After missing week 4 with inclement weather we got back to basketball with our week 5 matchups last night. With one week left until the holiday break we have some exciting week 6 matchups to highlight in this weeks power rankings. I also want to mention our annual BMBL Toy Drive- last year we were able to collect over 65 gift donations that were donated to Big Brothers Big Sisters. Our goal is to accomplish this again so if you are able to get involved and make a difference please grab unwrapped presents and bring them to December 18th games (Zach, Rob or Todd will collect them). You don't need to spend a lot of money to make a huge difference to local children this holiday.
BMBL Power Rankings:
Brockville Hyundai (-)
The last undefeated team in the league sits at 4-0 and boasts the top defensive rating earning them the 1 spot. MVP front runner Zach Lockhart is putting up 23 points/game on 48% shooting, and leads the defensive end with 8 blocks. With a big week 6 match up against Stonemarx both teams have lots on the line heading into the holiday break.
Super Simple Sheets (-)
Nothing new for Super Simple Sheets as they have the leagues highest scoring offence heading into the break 2 years straight. With Fullarton and Tanton combining for 56% of SSS' total offence the high usage duo is proving tough to stop as they sit 3-1.
Captain's Barber Chair (-)
After a week 1 loss to 4Life, Captain's Barber Chair has gone on a 3 week win streak. CBC is doing it with team basketball and getting balanced scoring from the entire group. Captain Clemmens and squad will face Ewyn Weight Loss in week 6 and looks to head into the break at 4-1.
Lonesome Pine Farms (-)
Sitting at 3-1 Lonesome Pine Farms captain and MVP candidate Trevor Fortier is top 4 in the leagues 3 main statistical categories (points, rebounds and FG%). Tierney and Orbine control the pace on O and suck the life out of defences. This team is a dark horse to win it all! With contributions from everyone LPF is proving to be very consistent on the offensive end.
Stonemarx (-)
In the mix with the 1-3 teams Stonemarx gets the edge as the reigning champs. This group has only had minimal time at full strength and with a full/healthy roster can compete with the top teams. The second half of the season will give us a better look at Stonemarx. With a tough week 6 matchup vs Hyundai a win could be huge for this squad heading into the break.
Rideau Realty (-)
Rideau's sole win so far was narrow against the 8-seed, with a big week 6 matchup against the 3 seed Lonesome Pine Farms we will get an idea of how this team will match up against teams of similar size. We know Rideau can score but can they defend the top teams and pick up enough wins to avoid a playoff matchup with a 1/2 seed?
4Life Fitness (-)
At 1-3 4Life is off to a slow start picking up a win over CBC and losses to Hyundai, Stonemarx, and Lonesome Pine Farm. With a top 4 defence 4Life needs to build some offensive chemistry and get their top guys going. A week 6 win would be huge for the group but it won't come easy against the 2 seed SSS.
Ewyn Weight Loss (-)
Although this group is 0-4 there is optimisim brewing with Fawcett's slow return to action. The trio of Huttinga, Burns and Fawcett should be able to put some wins together after the break and make for a fun and more competitive second half. With a week 6 game vs Captain's Barber Chair it is unlikely this team heads into Christmas with a W but what a gift that would be.
