Week 4 Game Results: Defence, Dominance & A Nail-Biter
Super Simple Sheets 64 - Lonesome Pine Farms 44:
Super Simple Sheets continued their early-season form with another convincing win, using balanced scoring and smothering defence to control both halves. Cody Hache is running away with the MVP race, turning in another elite performance on both sides of the ball. Lonesome Pine Farms was short handed and had some issues guarding Malcolm Spence whose making his case for rookie of the year as well. However, Fortier drilled 12 straight on Spence right before halftime to keep the rookie grounded! This matchup will be one to look at during the week of Feb 4th as both teams will get another crack at each other.
Player of the game: Malcolm "Can't Give It To Hache Every Week" Spence
Honourable mention: Trevor "Best Player After Hache" Fortier
Mike Fair GM 73 - Tomlinson 57
Mike Fair GM put together their second 70-piece of the season, earning them the leagues hottest offence at 64.6 points/game. While Tomlinson came out with an early lead, Mike Fair didn't panic and sought out mismatches on offence. Dave Dufort dropped a double-double by halftime to help swing the tide towards Mike Fair and stifled the Tomlinson scoring run. Tomlinson hung around behind some tough shot-making, but Mike Fair’s size and depth were too much down the stretch. Mike Fair is quietly shaping up as one of the league’s toughest opponents.
Player of the game: Dave "Did it Again" Dufort
Rideau Realty 45 - 4Life Fitness 35
Defence dominated this one. Rideau Realty clamped down in the second half, holding 4Life Fitness to their lowest offensive output of the year. It wasn’t the prettiest game, but Rideau executed when it counted, hitting key shots to secure a gritty 45–35 win in a game that featured almost no offence. Rideau Realty secured a big win and earns a spot in the top 4 of standings for the first time this year.
Player of the game: Tommy Mercer
Podium Sports Therapy 61 - Ewyn Studios 54
The closest game of the night had Podium come out firing. Ewyn Studios responded with one of their best halves of the season to keep things tight. A late Podium run, highlighted by a couple of clutch buckets from Sean Perrin and strong team play, finally created separation. Both squads showed flashes of high-level play—expect this matchup to be even tighter next time around with both teams at full strength.
Player of the game: Sean Perrin
STANDINGS & POWER RANKINGS AFTER WEEK 4
1. Super Simple Sheets (3–0) – Power Rank: 1 (–) Standings (1st place)
High powered O, with the leagues best D these guys are the team to beat. Streak: W3
2. Mike Fair GM (2–1) – Power Rank: 2 (+1) Standings (2nd place)
With the #1 O in the league we are looking forward to this team putting pressure on SSS with their versatility and scoring output. Streak: W1
3. Lonesome Pine Farms (2–1) – Power Rank: 3 (–1) Standings (3rd place)
Their only loss of the season comes at the hands of the 1 seed. This team will have to fight to stay atop the power rankings but they've got some dogs and an intriguing dynamic.
Streak: L1
4. Rideau Realty (2–1) – Power Rank: 4 (+1) Standings (4th place)
With the leagues second lowest scoring O Rideau has been relying on their defence to win (leagues 2nd best defence). We are still figuring out this squad early in the year but they've come out in mid-season form as always. Streak: W2
5. Tomlinson (1–2) – Power Rank: 5 (-1) Standings (7th place)
This squad simply needs to sort out their defensive end! Lead by last seasons MVP with some improved defence these guys should climb and beat top teams. Streak: L2
6. 4Life Fitness (1–2) – Power Rank: 6 (-) Standings (5th place)
After an ugly loss we're waiting to see who steps up on this squad full of potential. Streak: L1
7. Podium Sports Therapy (1–2) – Power Rank: 7 (–1) Standings (6th place)
Got the W in the 7vs8 seeded game this week behind Perrin's shooting. Week 5 provides an opportunity for Podium to knock off a top team and start their climb. Streak: W1
8. Ewyn Weight Loss (0–3) – Power Rank: 8 (–) Standings (8th)
At no point this year has this team been at full strength and it is showing. Once Fawcett returns from IR and this entire roster shows up expect them to stop the bleeding. Streak: L3
