We are two weeks away from the Ontario 7 on 7 Provincial Championship hosted by MVP Football & the University of Waterloo. We are thrilled to be back in action after a couple of long years. Our u15 and u18 programs will travel to Waterloo April 23rd to compete for Provincial bragging rights for 2022. Games begin at 11:00am for our u15 team and 11:30am for u18 squads.
Our u15 squad is led by Mackie Holmes, a class of 2025 dual threat NCAA/USPORT prospect who is already showing shades of Tre Ford. Mackie has run several 40 yard dashes sub 5s (laser) and is already jumping out the gym with a 9 foot broad jump at 14 years old. Holmes already possesses the skill set to compete at the next level physically and mentally. All USPORT programs should have Holmes at the top of their boards nationally. Holmes will rely on our 2 tenth grade athletes Jack Howell and Rowen Barton as well as 9th grade receivers Jacob Beatty, Jack Broniszeski and Liam Saumure. We are also affiliating athletes from our junior program on April 23rd; Bodee Thibideau, Trent Doran and Peter Ford will round out our roster as 8th graders, and set the foundation for our program moving forward.
Our u18 squad is loaded across the board with several players already committed to USPORT programs for 2022. The u18 Elite 7’s are quarterbacked by grade 11 Xavier Uhr. The 6’5 230lb QB will show his stuff April 23rd- looking to push the ball down field, Xavier will lead our explosive group of receivers into battle. Our starting 5 at receiver on April 23rd will be Evan Cordingley (Windsor Commit), Nathan Mboma (Waterloo Commit), Tristan Deschamp (uOttawa), Tristan Babin (uncommitted) and Damien Nickerson (uncommitted).
Our defence is captained by Marcus Ola (Waterloo Commit) and Logan Paulin (CO 23’). Ola looks to make his presence felt at Waterloo on April 23rd before he joins the Warrior’s for the next 4-5 years. Paulin, a class of 23’ FS is already garnering interest from USPORT programs and will no doubt be in the mix making plays on April 23rd. At Corner Tristan Hawksby (Champlain Commit) looks to impress USPORT coaches and find a home for 2024 after his two years of CEGEP under former UCONN DE Shawn Mayne.
We will rely heavily on our grade 11’s JP Szydlo (LB), Cam Belisle (HB), Conner Klimtschuck (WR), Ashton Lake (LB), Clayton Burkminski and Dylan Nakumara (WR) to step up and get ready to move into leadership roles for the 2022-23 season.
Following the Ontario Championships our Elite 7’s squad is gearing up for a tournament in Chicago May 6-8th to dip our toes into the American circuit.
If you are interested in supporting our Elite 7 travel programs our non-profit The 4Life Foundation is accepting sponsorship for our June 11th golf tournament. All proceeds go directly to local athletes' post-secondary tuition.
