U16's Headed To Midnight Madness

The Eastern Ontario Select 7s are headed to Brighton MI, on January 27th to participate in the Midnight Madness 7on7 Tournament hosted by Legacy Football. Coming off a strong season in 2022 our u16s have added a lot of talent to the roster and look to have a very strong campaign in 23’.

Our squad is headlined by three very talented C/O 25 QBs. With 3 legitimate dual threat QBs our program is in great hands for years to come. The veteran Select 7 Mackie Holmes just came off a successful NCAFA campaign where his Kanata Knights finished second place to a strong Cumberland squad (Holmes received finals MVP and Team MVP). Most recently Holmes attended the CFC showcase combine in Ottawa ON, and put on a clinic- jumping a 34.9’’ vertical, and added a 4.65 hand timed 40. Holmes also jumped a 9’4 broad jump putting him top 3 in each category with grade 11 and 12 athletes as a sophomore. Holmes is currently attending BCI in Brockville and gearing up for a big season with the u16 and u18 Eastern Ontario Select 7s programs.

Ryan Mcfeeters and Braeden Medd are our dynamic duo from Kingston, ON. QB Braeden Medd is coming off a KASSA championship, Team MVP as well as a Finals MVP season with Regi-Notre Dame. Braeden threw 16 TD passes and ran 6 TDs over 8 games in 2022. QB Ryan Mcfeeters also had a successful campaign with Sydenham where he led his team in total touchdowns with 12. When asked what he looks forward to most about this season Mcfeeters said “ I look forward to playing against top competition at an extremely high level. While being able to learn and develop from the experience.”

The Select 7s have an absolutely loaded receiving core featuring Cumberland Panther standouts Deion Moke and Marc Pierre, Kanata Knights standouts Liam Saumure and Bodee Thibideau, as well as Cornwall Wildcat standouts Jack Broniszeski (NCAFA ALL STAR) and Jacob Beatty. Our receiving core is rounded off with Iain Baird (rookie), Grant Roney (rookie), Nolan Swerdfeger (rookie), Michael Curragh (RB), and Braxton Herbison (rookie).

On the other side of the ball the Select 7s are led by Panther sophomores London Parent (Cumberland coaches award) and Oliver Raymond (Cumberland special teams player of the year) as well as 8th grade anomaly Linkin Stevens (Knights Defensive MVP). Stevens is a freak of nature standing at 6’2 and has no problem competing with athletes 2 years older than him. Keep your eye on these DB’s as they grow and develop with our program. Our defensive roster is finalized with rookies Duncan Ng, Trent Doran, Jackson Jodoin and Hudson Lee who will all have an immediate impact.

As we gear up for Midnight Madness in Michigan against some top notch US talent we have been training hard in the weight room and have begun our on field work as well. This group of athletes from Ottawa, Kingston, and Brockville/Gananoque have a legitimate chance to develop into one of the top teams in the Nation. Keep your eyes peeled for more updates on the u16 program and follow their journey on our Instagram @ 4.lifefitness.

We are closing our “basket of cheer” raffle on December 22nd to help pay for the team's trip to Michigan. If you are interested in buying a ticket (1-$20, 3-$50) please email zachbenson@4lifefitness.info or come into the facility (50 King Street East) to buy your ticket for a $300 LCBO gift card and an additional $400 worth of donated beverages from Tina and Dave Stevens. Last years trip to Michigan was canceled due to last minute COVID restrictions at the US border so we are very excited to take this group down finally!
